Introduction

TBS Wash (10x) pH 7.6 is a concentrated Tris buffer with the addition of detergent for preparing the reagent rinsing solution during the procedure of immunohistochemical staining of samples fixed in formalin or glyoxal and embedded in paraffin. It can also be used for short-term storage of tissue sections on slides. It can be used instead of PBS if strong background or non-specific staining appears on preparations and if the secondary antibody conjugated with alkaline phosphatase is used as a detection system. This solution helps maintain the morphological characteristics of antibodies and corresponding antigens in order to ensure the specific binding necessary for immunohistochemical reaction. It contains a detergent that enables rinsing the reagent from the preparation and reduces the possibility of non-specific background staining.
