Introduction
The covering/mounting medium provides quality preservation of the tested sample. BioGnost’s Canada Balsam medium provides expected tissue transparency and sample preservation during the period of several years. Its viscosity level is optimally high (10,000-11,000 cSt) and its refractive index is similar to the index of refraction of glass (nD=1.5250-1.5270). This medical device is based on xylene, and because of that it is compatible with BioGnost’s BioClear xylene, clearing/deparaffinizing medium. A small amount of covering/mounting medium should be applied to the test sample in order to create a fixed permanent preparation (along with the solvent evaporation). Canada Balsam is suitable for preparing cytological and histological preparations.
