Introduction

Histology, cytology and other related scientific disciplines study the microscopic anatomy of tissues and cells. In order to demonstrate a good tissue and cellular structure, the samples need to be stained in a correct manner. Alcian Green powder dye is a mixture of Alcian Blue 8GX and Alcian Yellow powder dyes. It is used in histology for staining cartilage, as well as sulfated and carboxylated mucopolysaccharides. The intensity of staining depends on the content of Alcian Green dye. Several factors may contribute to the results of staining, such as pH solution and buffer solutions, buffer substances, fixation and duration of the staining procedure.
